“The Grinch Who Stole My Christmas”

Are you familiar about the movie of Jim Carrey “How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000)”? Just to give you a short recap, remember the green, ugly and mean creature there (I’m referring to the Grinch)? He really hates Yuletide season that is why he stole everything from the town, including presents, decors and other stuffs related to Christmas.

I’ve mentioned this because somehow I can relate to the movie itself.

Two years ago, I met a guy. We’ve bump into each other through a common friend of mine. You know the usual things. We were introduced to each other. We started with the stage of getting to know. And as time passed by, we became close.

We started to hang-out and you know to cut the story short, we end up being together.

It was still fresh in my mind that at that time, when I came to answer back his love for me, it was almost Christmas. To be exact it was the 14th of December.

That very moment, I thought that this would be one the nicest gifts I received that time.

But to my dismay, the word nicest was turned to worst. I have to admit but it was really a big, big mistake of knowing him. How I wish that it was a real nice guy that I’ve fall for and not some obnoxious, selfish and arrogant monster around.

"Merrrry Meeerrry Christmas! BWaHAHAHA!" You don't want a "scary Santa Grinch" for Christmas, right?

"Merrrry Meeerrry Christmas! BWaHAHAHA!" You don't want a "scary Santa Grinch" for Christmas, right?

He’s the one and only Grinch I’ve encountered my whole life. Just like what the Grinch did in the movie, (I’m sorry to say) but that “bastard” stole away my happiness and betrayed my trust.

I imagine him, no, not just mere imagination, but I see him as the monster with yellow eyes, furry skin, green creature sneaking around playing tricks at his other victims.

The nastiest part of it, I gave away so much love but in return I got nothing. I didn’t imagine that someone would walk into my life and make mine miserable. I don’t know why there are some people like him exist.

I love Christmas season a lot. But for me, that Christmas was truly meant to be forgotten and thrown away. It brought me too much painful memories that I wish again it would just vanish in my mind.

Things already happened and I just have to accept it. I know it’s hard but I don’t want to live my life forever shedding tears for that green thing. Why should I? I don’t want to sound bitter but indeed, it would be a waste.

Somehow there are some important things I’ve learned from what happened. I grew stronger and became more matured young lady upon making decisions. If there’s one thing I would advise everybody, “NEVER GIVE UP.” No matter how big or small your challenges may be, take it as it is.

At some point in our lives, there are decisions we hardly regret. We think of so many “Ifs…” that should have prevent those mistakes from happening. We suffer in the end through the consequences it brings.

I don’t want any Grinch no more. It’s all in the past and I made a promise to myself that I won’t ever do the same errors I’ve committed before. I’m proud to say that where I am right now, I’m happier than ever.

  2. well this is a really painful story during christmas but as cams says there is always a purpose that’s why it happened..

I never thought MJ could ever scare me with one of her past relationships.

I think I have an idea as to who the guy is. Article is very bittersweet. (I enjoyed reading an article of hatred,it’s gratifying)

  6. it is just now that i read this article emjhey.. i’m sorry, we just had the same thing in mind when i composed my work.

Anyway, this is really nice. :)

I suppose, that one of the reasons of the conflicts we had. Am i right? :’)

Forget about it. He’s a big bad Grinch and let God punish him. For now, just be happy. Happier than ever.

The article is good but you haven’t mention the worst gift you ever gave. Anyway, I see that we’re moving forward. Nice Jhey.

  8. I know that more than half of the article was dedicated to a sharing of lamentations about that big bad grinch but I saw no details. I can hardly grasp the pain you felt because you left me hanging on specifics. I really need more information to form an informed assessment of that ‘grinch’.

Anyway what I wanna say was try to put more details, facts and evidence I guess. How did he ruin your Christmas? What were his bad habits? What specific experience made you realize he was the grinch of your Christmas past?

As writers we still have to deal with facts. No matter how ugly they were you need to lay the facts out to your readers. Be more informed with (90).

  9. No matter where we go, we will always encounter difficult people. People who will hurt us, people we don’t like and people who will piss us off. Though these silly humans may make us cry a river, they will push us to be better as well. The bad things that they might give, will serve as a challenge for us. Nice article Emjhey!

  10. Mj, what a painful experience but now I guess you’ve already move on… (right?) Anyway, it’s a good sincere and expressive article.
Some flaws to be considered nevertheless, I like reading your GRINCH article! haha…

    Merry X’mas :)

    GRADE: 90

  11. it’s hard to write any comments about what you’ve wrote. i just hope i’ll not be worse than that “grinch”

    Grade 89

  12. nice article. the author use the Grinch as the introduction and it was great ..

i’ve notice that almost everyone of you wrote all about love as the worst gift they receive for christmas.

well .. just be thankful for that Grinch. he really is a bastard for making your life miserable. without him, maybe you weren’t able to find someone better than him like the one you have right now .. (naks.) hehe

    a 90% for this one. :)

  13. Time can tell really if when we really encountered such person, thing happen. We all have no idea, that’s why we should always be aware of whom to trust with and whom we should need to set the distnace with, towards such person and insident that might come along our way.

I find your story entertaining.. Different from others that i already read. tHough, it’s really hard complaining on it but then, i know and understnad your point. I’m just wondering, why didn’t you include the worst gift you give..I can’t find it any of the paragraph written.

hehe.. over all the article is quite good, though.. i can feel the bitterness inside the writer. = D

    Merry X-Mas

    Grade: 90

  14. This article could have been better if the writer had told what REALLY happened between her and the guy who from being someone special became the GRINCH of her life. That will leave the reader hanging. And how about the worst gift you’ve ever given to someone?

Anyway, the writer is right that every challenge that comes our way makes us BETTER and STRONGER. Just keep the faith.

    90 for you. Merry Christmas.:)

  15. I’m not sure If I read fast that I missed the one you gave or it’s not really present in the article. Well, we often make mistakes but sometimes when we give all our hearts out, we don’t have to regret the action we made, because sooner or later, the person or people who fooled us would realize what they’ve just lost.

There are some problems with the grammar and the use of double negatives.

90 is the grade for you.

    Merry Christmas!!!

  16. lydialuisa Says:

Just like me, you forget to mention the worst gift you have given.
We always learn from our past experiences. It makes us strong and it teaches us to appreciate the simple things we have now.
Well, you seem happier now. I hope you’ll stay happy..
    (90) Merry Christmas!

  17. julianjavier Says:

Same goes for me, also forgot the worst gift I’ve given. The use of the children’s classic “The Grinch Who Stole Christmas” wasn’t a good choice for me, but seeing as how the writer used it, I take it back.

I didn’t much except for what Nicko pointed out as the double negatives. (90)
